This is a full Undead Burg walkthrough up to and including the Taurus Demon, with routes, shortcuts, and important secrets.

Phase 1 – From Firelink to the First Bonfire
1. From Firelink Shrine, take the elevator up toward the Parish, then turn right to the Burg gate.
2. Deal with the first hollows:
- Shield up, let them attack, then punish.
- Practice **kick → guard break → backstab**.
3. At the top of the first stairs:
- Kill the firebomb hollows quickly.
- Immediately exit left to a balcony for a **soul item**.
Secret: Look over the short wall; you'll see ledges that hint at future shortcuts and vertical level design philosophy.

Phase 2 – Burg Bonfire and Early Shortcut
1. Proceed forward to find the first Undead Burg bonfire tucked under an archway.
2. Light and rest – this is your reset hub for the next stretch.
3. From here:
- Clear the group of hollows throwing firebombs.
- Kick down the **ladder shortcut** from the tower back to the bonfire.
This loop lets you quickly reach the Taurus arena with relatively low risk.

Phase 3 – Crossbow Ambush & Gold Pine Resin
1. Past the bonfire, you'll enter a building with:
- A hollow on the stairs.
- A crossbow hollow on a balcony.
2. Take out melee enemies first, then carefully climb to the balcony.
Reward: A chest containing Gold Pine Resin – a massive damage boost vs the Taurus Demon if applied to your weapon.

Phase 4 – Optional Black Knight & Ring Secret
Near the area with the three firebomb hollows:
1. Look for a tower with a long spiral staircase.
2. Descend carefully to face a Black Knight (optional mini-boss).
3. If you defeat him:
- You can access a ring (e.g., **Blue Tearstone** or similar depending on version/mod).
- You may also get a powerful early weapon.
Tip: Learn to circle-strafe and backstab. The Knight is your first real test in patience.

Phase 5 – Taurus Demon Arena Preparation
Before traversing the fog gate:
1. Kill the two archers atop the tower beyond the fog (climb the ladder after stepping through, then go back down to reset).
2. Clear the entire stretch so nothing bothers you during the boss.
Inventory Checklist:
- 2–3 **Estus Flasks**
- **Gold Pine Resin** ready on your quickbar
- A 100% physical shield (e.g., **Kite Shield/Wooden Shield**)

Phase 6 – Beating Taurus Demon the Safe Way
1. Step through the fog, then sprint straight to the far tower.
2. Climb the ladder; wait for the Taurus Demon to enter the arena.
3. When it gets close, perform a plunging attack from the top.
Phase 2 – Buffed Melee
1. After landing the plunge, back up and apply Gold Pine Resin.
2. Stay at medium distance to bait:
- Vertical slam (roll sideways, get 1–2 hits)
- Short rush combo (block or roll, then punish)
3. If he jumps away, keep the bridge between you and avoid fighting too close to the ledges.
Secret: With perfect timing, you can manage a second plunging attack by running back to the ladder when he resets position.

Phase 7 – After the Demon: Dragon Bridge & Shortcuts
1. Once the demon is dead, continue forward.
2. You'll reach the Hellkite Drake Bridge:
- Lure the dragon's fire to clear hollows.
- Run to the right-hand lower passage for the next **bonfire** under the bridge.
3. From here, you unlock the critical shortcut back to Firelink Shrine, completing the core Undead Burg loop.
By mastering Burg rather than just sprinting to the boss, you'll internalize Dark Souls' core language: shortcuts, risk vs reward, and careful observation.
