Core Survival Rules
Requiem is built on three pillars:
1. Information – know the map and enemy types.
2. Positioning – control space and chokepoints.
3. Inventory – never carry more than you can use.
Combat Basics
- Aim for the **eyes and throat** of Ashen enemies; limb shots only stagger.
- Two or three well-placed handgun rounds are better than blind mag dumps.
- Learn the **quick-turn** and **counter knife** early; they save more health than herbs.
Secret – Stagger Windows
Most enemies have:
- A **breathing pause** after a lunge.
- A brief **post-swipe recoil** animation.
Those are your moments to:
- Fire 1–2 shots
- Or run past to reposition
Safe Rooms & Typewriters
- Safe rooms are marked by **blue candles** and a soft choir motif.
- Use them to:
- Offload extra ammo and healing items
- Read all collected files for lore
- Combine herbs and craft ammo
Lore – Choir Motif
The recurring choral theme hints that the infection affects hearing and rhythm – certain enemies move on the beat, telegraphing their attacks if you listen.
Exploration & Backtracking
- Always explore **side corridors** after main encounters; Requiem loves hiding:
- Keys behind knocked-over lockers
- Files under hospital beds
- Ammo on balcony rails
- Mark mental notes for locked doors – almost every key item loops you back through safer routes.
Following these basics will make your first night in the ashen city tense, but fair.
